The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is meeting with leaders of political parties to review the 2023 general elections and preparations for the upcoming off-season governorship elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa states.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu said during the meeting that engaging with stakeholders is the best way to ensure the credibility of future elections. He, however, apologised for starting the meeting late.
The meeting was attended by the acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and chieftains of other political parties led by the National Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council, Yabagi Sani.
INEC has been engaged with critical stakeholders in the last two weeks, including accredited local elections observer groups and civil society organisations.
The Commission met with the National Commissioners on Friday to review the 2023 general elections.
