President Bola Tinubu is currently in a meeting with the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, and the Party Secretary, Dr. Iyiola Omisore, at the State House in Abuja.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the duo arrived at the Aso Rock Villa a few minutes before 5 pm and were promptly ushered into the President’s office.
This meeting comes just hours after the party distanced itself from the recently announced principal officers of the 10th National Assembly by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
During a meeting with the Progressives Governors’ Forum led by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State on Tuesday, Adamu expressed his surprise at the announcements, stating, “I am just hearing as a rumor now from the online media that there have been some announcements in the Senate and House of Representatives.”
The party chairman further clarified, “The national headquarters of the party, the NWC, has not provided any such information or communicated about the choice of offices. Until we formally resolve and communicate with them (NASS leadership) in writing, which is the norm and practice (as it is not our intention to break away from traditions), any announcement made by the President of the Senate, Deputy Senate President, Speaker, or Deputy Speaker does not come from this secretariat.”
