JUST IN: ‘It Is Not Difficult’ – Peter Obi Explains How He Will Fight Corruption If Elected in 2027

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi says fighting corruption in Nigeria is far less complicated than many believe and has outlined how he plans to tackle it if elected president in 2027.

Speaking at a youth and leadership forum with students of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, on Friday, Obi stressed that personal integrity at the top is the starting point.

“If you, your wife and children are not stealing, you have reduced corruption by 60 per cent,” he said.

He recounted his record as a bank chairman and as governor of Anambra State, insisting that no public funds were ever linked to him unlawfully.

Obi pledged that his anti-corruption strategy would centre on leading by example, strengthening laws, and fostering a culture of accountability. He also promised to serve only a single four-year term, saying significant reforms could be achieved within that period.

“If I have the opportunity to serve as Nigeria’s president in 2027, I will do so for only four years. It can be less, but it will never be more. I will not stay a day longer than four years.

“People say what can you do in four years? There is a lot you can do in four years because you can bring civility and laws that start good governance in four years,” he said.
