The New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) candidate for the Jigawa Northwest Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections, Alhaji Rabi’u Isah Taura, has passed away.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the news of his untimely demise emerged on Tuesday morning following a prolonged battle with severe backache.
Rabiu Taura’s political journey was marked by notable positions of influence within the state. He previously served as the Jigawa State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He held key roles as the Commissioner of Land and later as the Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources during the administration of Sule Lamido.
Subsequently, Taura joined NNPP alongside his political mentor, Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, who is currently contesting as the NNPP gubernatorial candidate and was engaged in a political rift with Lamido.

Ringim hailed Taura’s contributions and extended prayers for the eternal repose of his soul, as well as strength and solace for the grieving family.
The funeral prayer for Alhaji Rabi’u Isah Taura is scheduled for today, Thursday, at 10:00 am in Taura Local Government, where he will be laid to rest.
