Families affected by the recent Kaduna military drone attack have denied reports of suing the Federal Government for N33 billion in compensation.
They denounced the claims as “fake and mischievous,” urging security agencies to apprehend the “fraudulent lawyer” responsible for spreading the false information.
Clarifying their stance during a visit to Governor Uba Sani, community leaders, including traditional rulers and religious leaders, disowned any involvement in the fictitious lawsuit. They declared that the lawyer who issued the statement was acting on his own accord, with no authorisation or support from the community.
Community leaders affirmed their satisfaction with the government’s intervention through the PULAKU programme, adding that they are after recovery and rebuilding rather than pursuing legal action.
Chief Imam Hashim Jafar of Tudun Biri expressed their appreciation for the government’s swift response in assisting victims and supporting the community. He said, “We are here to inform the government that we appreciate their effort at ensuring the quick recovery of the victims in the hospital and their support to the families and the Tudun Biri.
“We did not send anybody to sue anyone; whoever is behind it does not have our backing.”
Pastor Musa Saidu echoed the sentiments, saying, “Collectively, the Christians and the Muslims in Tudun Biri have no idea about any court issue.”
The community acknowledged the provision of food, blankets, and other essential items, as well as the government’s commitment to cover the full medical expenses of those injured. Additionally, the community commended the ongoing free feeding program implemented by the administration after the tragedy.
Governor Sani, reaffirming his commitment to the community, assured the leaders of close collaboration with security agencies to identify and apprehend individuals attempting to exploit their vulnerability during this sensitive period.
Furthermore, the governor pledged to continue supporting the community through the daily visits of his Chief of Staff and the Commissioner for Internal Security.
