The Kano Police Command has confirmed that all security agencies in the state will adhere to a court order that halted the reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano.
Commissioner of Police Usaini Gumel assured the public that the police and other security agencies will comply with the Federal High Court order preventing the reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and ensure peace and stability in the state.
The command also warned that it would deal ruthlessly with anyone attempting to incite violence over the emirate dispute.
A Federal High Court, under the presiding judge Justice A.M. Liman, had issued an ex-parte order restraining the Kano State Government from reinstating Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The order was issued on Thursday night, even though the judge is reportedly in the United States.
The case was filed by Aminu Babba-Dan’Agundi, a traditional title holder known as Sarkin Dawaki Babba.
Speaking at a press briefing held at the Bompai command headquarters on Saturday, Commissioner Gumel said:
“The command and its sister agencies will ensure peace in the state and will deal ruthlessly with anyone trying to cause violence over the emirate tussle.”
The police vowed to deal with anyone who attempts to harass the Emirs heading the five emirates.
The police boss also disclosed that they have not received any order from the state governor ordering the arrest of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. He said they only saw it on social media.
