JUST IN: Kano state governor orders immediate closure of all MDA accounts

Kano Governor Abba Yusuf has issued a directive to the state’s Accountant-General to close all accounts held by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) immediately.

The announcement was made during a meeting at the Government House on Wednesday, attended by the Chairman of the Kano State Internal Revenue Service and heads of MDAs.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that the decision is aimed at ensuring that all government revenue is accurately accounted for and efficiently utilized for the state’s development.

He said the move is part of efforts by the administration to enhance financial transparency and strengthen the management of public funds.

“We have taken this step to ensure that every naira generated by the state is properly tracked and used to benefit our people,” the governor stated.

The directive comes amid ongoing reviews of the state’s financial systems, including recent discussions on budgetary allocations and reforms in basic education.

The closure of MDA accounts is expected to consolidate state finances under a more centralized and transparent framework, ensuring that resources are directed towards key developmental projects.
