JUST IN: Kogi ADC chairman backs APC’s Usman Ododo weeks to governorship election

The Kogi State Chairman of the African Democratic Party (ADV), Kingsley Oga, and some members of the party across the three senatorial districts have dumped the governorship candidate of the party, Leke Abejide, for the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Usman Ododo.

Addressing members of the party during their defection on Friday, he said remained the state chairman of the ADC, but they decided to abandon the ADC candidate and work for the APC candidate.

He stated, “Among all the governorship candidates for the November 11 governorship election, the candidate of the APC, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, is the best person fit to be elected as the next governor of the state.

“Before now, I set up a five-man committee to asses all the candidates contesting and at the end, the committee’s report said  Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman is the right candidate to be voted for in the coming election.”

He said the efforts of Governor Yahaya Bello towards the development of the state needed somebody that would continue from where he would stop and that was why they decided to support Ododo in the coming election.

The ADC chairman commended the governor for his achievements across the state in the last seven and a half years.

Also speaking, Idowu Ibikunlen representing Yagba West state Constituency at the Kogi State House Assembly said he contested as ADC candidate and he won his election.

He further stated that despite the fact that he is a member of ADC, he and his supporters had decided to vote for the candidate of the APC in the election.

He added, “Alhaji Yahaya Bello is a performing governor and because of that we will support his candidate for the election so that Ododo can continue from where the governor will stop come 2024.”

The three senatorial chairmen of the party also spoke, saying they would mobilise their people in the party to vote for the APC in the coming election.
