JUST IN: Kogi COVID-19 index case discharged

The controversial Kogi state Coronavirus index case, Sheikh Ahmad Ejibunu, has been discharged from the National Hospital, Abuja after testing negative for the deadly virus.

Ejibunu, who is the Chief Imam of Kabba, was discharged on Friday evening at about 4 pm. According to reports, the cleric is resting in a family member’s house in Gwagwalada before been taken to Kabba his home town to reunite with his family members.

Recall that Ejibunu was a fortnight ago referred from the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja to the National Hospital Abuja, where he was confirmed COVID–19 positive by the NCDC.

The Kogi state government, however, rejected the claim, saying that the NCDC did not carry along its Ministry of Health on the series of tests conducted on the patient.

But one Chief Taiye Ejibunu on behalf of the family of the chief imam swiftly issued a statement admitting that indeed the chief imam indeed tested positive for the virus.

The state, however, maintained its position of being COVID-19 free even after the announcement of a third case by the NCDC last Thursday.
