The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce has arrested 110 individuals suspected of destroying and stealing rail track components around the Pen Cinema-Iju Fagba corridor.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to secure the Redline rail track, as directed by Lagos State Governor Mr Babajide Sanwoolu.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrests, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing rail track vandalism.
On Thursday morning, he wrote on his X handle: “In an ongoing operation to clean up and secure the Redline rail track around the Pen Cinema – Iju Fagba corridor as ordered by the Lagos State Governor, Mr @jidesanwoolu.
“110 persons were arrested overnight by the Environmental Taskforce team headed by CSP Shola Jejeloye.”
