Adeola Adedipe, counsel to the former Chairman of Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abulrasheed Maina, has applied to quit his money laundering case.
At the resumption of proceedings in Maina’s trial on Wednesday, the lawyer filed a notice before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja indicating his intention to withdraw from the case and representing Maina.
The lawyer is representing Maina’s company – Common Input Property and Investment Ltd in his ongoing trial for money laundering. He claimed that the reason for quitting the case is that his brief has not been perfected and his client has refused to pay him.
Adedipe, however, apologised to the court for being absent from proceedings during some of the recent adjournments.
Ruling, Justice Abang ruled that the notice the lawyer claimed to have filed was not in the court’s file and therefore cannot accept his application. The case was adjourned till December 4 for the continuation of the trial.
