A crash on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway caused chaos and left several people injured on Monday morning.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the accident occurred opposite The Punch place, located at KM 14 of the expressway and involved a truck and multiple other vehicles.
According to reports, the truck – which is usually used to transport cows – collided with a vehicle from behind, causing a chain reaction of crashes involving other vehicles. As a result, many were feared to have been injured in the incident.
An official from the Federal Road Safety Corps, who spoke on the condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to speak publicly, revealed that at least four people had been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, The Punch reported. Among the victims were two children and one male and female adult.
This newspaper learnt that efforts are currently underway to determine the extent of the casualties and to clear the truck from the expressway.
However, as of the time of reporting, the incident had caused a significant buildup of traffic along the route towards Lagos.
