JUST IN: NAFDAC busts fake bottled water syndicate in Port Harcourt [VIDEO]

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a counterfeit bottled water operation in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, targeting the famous brand Eva Water.

Acting on a tipoff, officials raided a dilapidated shop on Pipe Line Road, Eneka, disguised as a pool house, where suspects were producing the fake water.

According to NAFDAC, used Eva plastic bottles were refilled with contaminated water drawn from a paint bucket and filtered through a dirty rubber funnel covered with cloth. Counterfeit Eva labels were then applied to the bottles, corked with fake Eva corks.

One suspect, Chibunna James, was apprehended while loading the contaminated water for distribution, while the mastermind remains at large.

The seized products were confiscated and evacuated to the NAFDAC office for further investigation.
