JUST IN: Napoli Confirm Victor Osimhen’s Exit, Reveals Next Move

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed that striker Victor Osimhen will depart at the end of the current season.

This comes just weeks after Osimhen penned a new contract with the Italian champions, but the deal reportedly included a hefty £112 million release clause.

“This was already known since this summer, our negotiations [over the new contract] were friendly, otherwise it would not have been so long. We knew he would go to Real Madrid, PSG or a top English club,” De Laurentiis said in a chat with reporters.

The 25-year-old Nigerian international scored 31 goals in 2022-23. He recently hinted at a potential switch to the Premier League, with Chelsea and Arsenal among the rumoured suitors.

Osimhen has netted eight goals and provided three assists in 18 matches for Napoli this season, with seven goals and two assists coming from his 13 Serie A appearances. Since joining the Blues from Lille in 2020, he has played 119 times, scoring 67 goals and contributing 17 assists.

Currently, Osimhen is part of the Nigeria squad at the Africa Cup of Nations. The striker scored once, propelling his team to the last-16 stage, where they will face Cameroon on Saturday.
