Mr. Zacchaeus A. Adedeji has officially taken up his position as the Acting Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) at its headquarters in Abuja.
This transition follows the departure of the outgoing Chairman, Mr. Muhammed Nami, who is proceeding on terminal leave immediately.
In a symbolic gesture of the seamless transfer of leadership, Mr Nami formally handed over the reins to Mr Adedeji.
Adedeji brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, and his tenure as the Acting Chairman will be marked by expectations of innovation and efficiency in tax administration.
At the age of 33, he was appointed by the late former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, as the Commissioner for Finance; making him (Adedeji) the youngest person ever to hold such a postion in the state. He served in this capacity from 2011-2015.
Before his appointment as the FIRS acting chair, Adedeji was the Special Adviser (Revenue) to the President.
