JUST IN: NNPP Suspends Senator, 3 Others Over Association With Ganduje

The Senator representing Kano South Senatorial District, Kawu Sumaila has been suspended by the New Nigeria  Peoples Party (NNPP) over his alleged association with the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje.

Senator Kawu was suspended by the leadership of the party alongside three other members of the NNPP – Ali Madakin Gini, Sani Abdullahi Rogo, and Kabiru Alhassan Rurum.

Speaking at a press conference in Kano, the chairman of the Kano State chapter of the NNPP, Hashimu Dungurawa said that the suspended members were engaged in anti-party activities.

He also alleged that those affected are members of the party who were elected in the National Assembly under the party’s platform but have since engaged themselves in actions that contradict the principles and tenets of the NNPP.

He condemned Senator Kawu and the affected party members failing to uphold party loyalty despite being granted complementary tickets during the last elections.

He also expressed shock that key members of the APC were invited to Senator Kawu’s daughter’s wedding and the commissioning of some of his projects in Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State.

Dungurawa explained that should the suspended NNPP members acknowledge their mistakes and seek forgiveness, the party may consider reinstating them.
