JUST IN: Northern Governors Donate N180m to Kaduna Airstrike Victims

The Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) has pledged N180 million to support the Kaduna State government and victims of the recent bombing in Tudun Biri community.

The donation was announced following their inaugural meeting held in Kaduna on Friday.

Expressing deep condolences to the people of Kaduna, the forum condemned the tragic incident that claimed over 100 lives and left many injured. The body while recognising the suffering caused, committed to providing both immediate financial assistance and long-term support.

“The forum has collectively resolved to support the Kaduna State Government and victims of the unfortunate incident of bombing at Tudun Biri Community of Igabi LGA by donating the sum of N180,000,000.00 only to the victims,” stated Chairman and Governor of Gombe State Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.

Furthermore, the forum outlined a comprehensive plan to address key challenges plaguing the North. This includes tackling issues like peaceful coexistence, economic development, youth employment, drug abuse, and education revitalisation. Their agenda is ambitious and multifaceted, aiming to improve the lives of millions of citizens.

Acknowledging the federal government’s recent efforts against insecurity, the forum pledged further collaboration. They emphasised the importance of enhanced cooperation with security agencies, strengthening local law enforcement, engaging with communities, and adopting modern technology to combat the complex issue of regional insecurity.

The forum also said there is a need to address the root cause of insecurity being, poverty, unemployment, and deepening social inequality. They acknowledged environmental challenges facing Northern Nigeria, specifically the conflict between farmers and herders. They vowed to work towards sustainable solutions that protect livelihoods, promote peaceful coexistence, and contribute to overall regional stability.
