Fegho John Umunubo has reacted following his dismissal as Special Assistant on Digital and Creative Economy to President Bola Tinubu in the office of the Vice President.
Umunubo’s disengagement was approved on Monday and was with immediate effect, according to a statement issued by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House.
Although no official reason was given for the decision, the presidency warned stakeholders and the public against dealing with Umunubo in any capacity on behalf of the administration.
“Stakeholders and constituents of the digital and creative economy, at home and abroad, as well as the general public are hereby notified that FEGHO JOHN UMUNUBO, who hitherto had served as the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and Creative Economy (Office of the Vice President), has been disengaged with immediate effect,” the statement said.
The announcement came just days after Umunubo had publicly pledged loyalty to Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Tinubu government, urging Nigerians to rally behind the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Reacting to the development on Monday, Umunubo took to Instagram, sharing a screenshot of the official release and writing: “It has been my honor to serve this country and the Creative Industry. Now I am free to fly.”
