JUST IN: NSCDC Arrests Two For Crude Oil Theft

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspects involved in stolen crude oil in Rivers State.

The suspects were nabbed by the Commandant General Intelligence Squad (CG SIS).

A short post on its official X handle said the duo packaged the stolen crude oil inside cellophane bags.

According to the post, the stolen crude oil was packaged and ready for illegal distribution at the Abobi/Odagwa community forest in the Etche local government Area of Rivers State.

The post did not, however, provide the names of the suspects.

“COMMANDANT GENERAL SPECIAL INTELLIGENCE SQUAD (CG SIS) ARRESTS TWO [2]  ECONOMIC SABOTEURS INVOLVED IN STOLEN CRUDE OIL PACKAGED INSIDE CELLOPHANE BAGS, READY FOR ILLEGAL DISTRIBUTION AT THE ABOBI/ODAGWA COMMUNITY FOREST IN ETCHE LGA, RIVERS STATE,” the post reads.

Politics Nigeria reports that the arrest of the duo comes after the Nigeria Police Force said it also nabbed four (4) suspects involved in oil theft, illegal bunkering, and economic sabotage in Rivers State.

Force Spokesman ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said this was achieved after the operatives, in collaboration with the department of operations, Rivers State Command, on 12th September 2024, made the discovery of a storage facility in Trans Amadi, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, used in dealing and processing illegally acquired Crude oil.

He gave the names of the suspects as
Emmanuel Nwachi ‘m’ 58 years; Adamu Bala ‘m’ 35 years; Nura Musa ‘m’ 22 years; Bashir Abubakar ‘m’ 28 years.

The police spokesman said the operatives recovered 40,000 Litres of petroleum products, stored in 67 white storage tanks.
