JUST IN: Ogun Governor, Abiodun, Approves Bumper Christmas Bonus for Civil Servants

Ogun Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved year-end bonuses ranging from N20,000 to a whopping N100,000 for state employees.

The package, announced on the official State X handle on Saturday, is aimed at easing the burden of the current economic climate on public servants.

The bonuses, a percentage of basic salary, vary by level, with the highest percentage going to Level 01 officers at 159%. Other levels will receive bonuses between 68% and 102%, with Levels 16 and 17, the highest ranks, pocketing a cool N100,000 each.

“This initiative reflects the Abiodun administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting our dedicated public servants,” a statement from the office of the Head of Service said. “We understand the challenges faced by many families during this time, and we hope these bonuses will bring some relief and joy.”

According to the statement, the bonuses come on top of previous measures taken by the Abiodun administration to support public servants. These include a N10,000 transport allowance provided in response to fuel subsidy removal and ongoing efforts to address the backlog of pensions and other financial obligations.

The move by Ogun State follows similar actions by other states, with Rivers State recently approving a flat N100,000 bonus for all civil servants.
