JUST IN: Ohanaeze to meet with Tinubu, Atiku, El-rufai over 2023 Igbo Presidency

Apex Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo is set to meet with a group of top politicians in the country in order to achieve its goal of an Igbo presidency in the 2023 general elections.

The group in a statement on Friday revealed that it would hold meetings with President Muhammadu Buhari, Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Olusegun Obasanjo along with other stakeholders.

“Igbo Youths insist every Nigerian has the right to ascribe for the highest office in the land, but the Collective interests of Nigeria supersede the individual quest”.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide had cautioned the power brokers in APC and PDP, about the pitfalls and grave Consequences of leadership imposition on Nigerians, and need to respect the Gentleman’s Agreement of Rotational Presidency between North and South.”

“Though Unwritten, but should be respected for the Future and Sustainable peace in Nigeria, OYC described Nigeria as a Nation threatened by personal gains of few political leaders against the Collective interests of Nigerians, any attempt to ambush Igbos, their legitimate political interests to produce President either from South/South or South-East in 2023 through Political Parties Tickets, will strengthen the agitation of Self Determination across the country, as Oduduwa and Biafra referendum and independence will gather international recognition and make the Future of Nigeria bleak.”

The group maintains that it would begin negotiations and lobbying after the coronavirus pandemic has cleared. The statement signed by the group’s president general, Okechukwu Isiguzoro highlighted that arrangements were being made for other ethnic groups that will “accompany an Igbo delegation to interface with President Muhammadu Buhari, El Rufai, Atiku, Tinubu, Obasanjo and others, Igbo Youths insists every Nigerian has the right to ascribe for the highest office in the land”.
