The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has disclosed that over one million students were illegally admitted by some tertiary institutions in the country.
He made the revelation at the ongoing policy meeting on 2023/2024 admissions in Abuja on Thursday.
Oloyede stated that the Board has been able to regularize the admissions of about 600 of these students. However, he lamented that many of the students admitted illegally lack the basic qualifications for the courses they registered to study.
“Over 1 million students were admitted illegally. We have regularized about 600 of them because many of them don’t have the basic qualifications,” Oloyede said.
