Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde joined the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in a peaceful protest on Tuesday.
The demonstration, which began at the NLC state secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, saw the workers marching to various locations, with the governor joining them at Gate – NTA – Yemetu roundabout.
During the protest, Governor Makinde addressed the workers, acknowledging the prevailing hardship and assuring them that the difficulties would soon be addressed.
He expressed his commitment to being part of the generation that works towards fixing the challenges faced by the country.
“I am aware of the hardship in town and the difficulty the people are going through, but I will be part of the generation that will fix the country,” Governor Makinde said.
The state NLC Chairman, Kayode Martins, highlighted the unbearable cost of living, emphasizing the people’s frustration.
“The cost of living in Nigeria today is nothing to write home, and the people are fed up, so that’s why we are on the street now,” Martins lamented.
