There is panic in Yelwa area of Bauchi state following a stabbing incident on Friday involving a policeman.
POLITICS NIGERIA learnt that a police officer (unnamed) stabbed three residents , leading to the instant death of two of them. This newspaper cannot yet ascertain the actual cause of the scuffle that led to the stabbing.
As of the time of publishing this report, youths are protesting the incident, and have blocked the road.
The enraged youths pelted stones at the police and inside the Yelwa Police Station. The police were also shooting into the air to disperse them.
Meanwhile, Umar Sanda, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police (CP) has urged members of the public not to take laws into their hands.
He also enjoined citizens of the state to remain law-abiding and to continue to assist the Command to fight crime in the state by promptly reporting any incident.
The CP assured the public of his commitment in the fight against criminality in accordance to the law in the State.
