Some parts of the Federal Capital Territory will be experiencing blackout following a scheduled maintenance announced by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The company on Friday, February 21, said it would be carrying out a scheduled preventive maintenance on 2x100MVA Transformers at Apo Transmission Substation.
In a statement issued by Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s general manager on public affairs, the company’s team will carrying out its annual maintenance on the 2x100MVA, TR3 & TR4 transformers at the Apo 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja.
According to Mbah, the process will take place on Saturday and Sunday, February 22, and 23, 2025, between 9 am and 4 pm each day.
She said, “The maintenance is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 9 am to 4 pm each day.”
Mbah noted that for the first day of the maintenance, locations like the National Hospital, G2 Injection Station, Garki, Area 1, and Asokoro will experience power interruption for seven hours.
Also, on the second day (Sunday), areas like the Apo Legislative Quarters, Apo Resettlement, Gudu, Apo Mechanic, and its environs will experience a seven-hour power interruption.
She added, “The planned power interruptions are unavoidable, as Abuja DisCo will be unable to receive bulk power supply from the transformers during the maintenance period.
“Power supply will be restored to the affected areas upon completion of the maintenance exercise. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause the affected electricity customers,” Mbah assured.
