JUST IN: PDP deputy governorship candidate in Kaduna defects to ADC

Mr. John Ayuba, the 2023 deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna, has dumped the party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Ayuba confirmed his defection in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Ungwan Gaiya in Zangon Kataf LGA.

Part of the letter read: “It is with a heavy heart that I write to convey my difficult decision to resign my membership of our erstwhile great party.

“I have, over the last three years, watched with great concern the mismanagement of the future of our party at the national level by those who, I fear to say, do not mean well for its future.

“These events culminated in brazen acts of anti-party activities against our presidential candidate in the 2023 general election by highly placed party members.”

Ayuba said the PDP had failed to take decisive action months after the general election, leaving loyal members demoralised.

He added that his decision to leave followed wide consultations with his supporters and associates.

“Remaining in the PDP is no longer an option,” he said.

He thanked the party for the platform and opportunity it gave him, especially his 2023 nomination.

Ayuba’s exit adds to a growing wave of high-profile defections from the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
