JUST IN: PDP gets new National Vice Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed a new National Vice Chairman for the South-West zone.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the party has ratified the appointment of Alhaji Rahman Owokoniran, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, as the acting National Vice Chairman.

Owokoniran, who was until now the Zonal Secretary of the PDP in the South-West, was appointed following the death of the former National Vice Chairman, Soji Adagunodo.

The appointment was made at the end of the South-West PDP Zonal Executive meeting which was held in Ibadan on Saturday.

A communique issued at the end of the meeting said the appointment was “pending the election of a substantive National Vice Chairman, in accordance with the provisions of the PDP constitution”.

The communique also said the South-West PDP commended the zeal and resilience of the PDP candidates who are currently seeking justice at the Election Petition Tribunals over their stolen mandates.

The party reiterated its commitment to leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice.

The communique added that the South-West PDP empathises with the Nigerian people and strongly condemns the directionless approach of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government regarding the removal of fuel subsidy, without any plans or measures in place to cushion the effects.
