Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) arrived in Abuja on Tuesday for an emergency meeting amid a crisis in Rivers State.
The meeting is coming on the heels of reports of a rift between Governor Simi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is currently Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Among the governors who have arrived for the meeting are the party’s vice presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Godwin Obaseki, and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
This newspaper had earlier reported that Fubara and Wike met at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday morning.
The two men reportedly fell out less than six months after Fubara’s inauguration.
Both politicians have been in the news since the Rivers State House of Assembly began impeachment proceedings against the governor.
On Monday, Fubara stormed the assembly complex with his loyalists to prevent the lawmakers from carrying out their plan.
