The party, in a statement released on Monday by its Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom, acknowledged the “authority of the courts to interpret the laws made for the good government of Nigeria.” Accepting the apex court’s decision “in good faith,” the PDP pledged to move forward constructively
The statement also conveyed the PDP’s appreciation to its outgoing leadership, including former Governor Samuel Ortom, it candidate in the just concluded gubernatorial election, Titus Uba, running mate John Ngbede, and all party members for their dedication and service during the election campaign.
“The Peoples Democratic Party, in Benue State, accepts the verdict of the Supreme Court of Nigeria earlier today over the appeal of the party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba, challenging the emergence of Revd. Fr. Hyacinth Alia as governor of the state.
“PDP recognises the authority of the courts to interpret the laws made for the good government of Nigeria and accepts the decision of the Supreme Court on the matter in good faith,” the statement read in parts.
