The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has finally opened up on the alleged theft of his phone at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Tuesday.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that a video of Obi complaining about his missing phone at the court in Abuja went viral on social media.
However, his spokesman, Valentine Obienyem, has clarified that the phone was not stolen.
Obienyem said that Obi left his phone on the table to exchange pleasantries with some people in court, and one of his aides picked it up for safekeeping.
He said that the phone was not stolen and that Obi appreciates the concern of his supporters.
He said, “Yesterday, the news of the loss of Mr. Peter Obi’s phone went viral. The spontaneous outpouring of solidarity was yet again a demonstration of the love of the people for him.
“May I happily inform you that it was not a case of theft. He left the phones on his table to exchange pleasantries with some people in court, whereupon, for safety sake, one of his aides picked the phones
“Once again, we appreciate your concern.
