JUST IN: Peter Obi Congratulates Super Eagles on Victory Over Rwanda

The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their 1-0 victory over Rwanda.

Friday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash was held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Substitute Tolu Arokodare scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute to secure maximum points for Nigeria in Group C, keeping hopes alive for a spot at the global football showpiece.

Reacting after the game, Obi praised the team’s performance and urged the players to sustain their momentum as the campaign continues.

“Congratulations to our dear Super Eagles on their crucial victory against Rwanda today. Watching the game, I noted your team’s commitment that should be sustained going forward,” he said.

Looking ahead to Tuesday’s vital qualifier against South Africa, Obi described the encounter as pivotal, stressing that Nigeria’s presence at the 2026 FIFA World Cup is of utmost importance.

“Nigeria playing in the World Cup final as one of Africa’s representatives should be sacred and Tuesday’s encounter will define it.

“We are confident that with this strength, Nigeria can make it to the World Cup,” Obi added.

The former Anambra governor reaffirmed his confidence in the national team, expressing optimism that the Super Eagles will rise to the challenge and secure qualification for the tournament.
