The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has landed the venue for the grand opening of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this development cast doubts about his availability to attend the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, where a decision on the live broadcast of the proceedings is expected today.

As previously reported by this newspaper, President Muhammadu Buhari, along with leaders from Ghana, Togo, Senegal, Niger, and Chad, will convene to inaugurate the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.

Spearheaded by the esteemed African business magnate Aliko Dangote, this refinery is acclaimed as the largest single-train facility in the world and is situated in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

Occupying an extensive 2,635-hectare space within the Dangote Industries Free Zone, the refinery possesses an impressive processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day (bpd), revolutionising the petroleum industry in the region.

This project is expected to generate over 100,000 job opportunities, bolstering Nigeria’s position in the global oil market and reducing its reliance on petroleum product imports.

The inauguration ceremony is set to attract distinguished international dignitaries, including Presidents Gnassingbé Eyadéma of Togo, Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, Macky Sall of Senegal, Mohamed Bazoum of Niger Republic, and Mahamat Déby of Chad.

Additionally, numerous ambassadors will grace the occasion, while Rwandan President Paul Kagame will deliver his goodwill message virtually.
