JUST IN: Peter Obi Storms Lagos Trade Fair, Speaks Tough on Demolitions

Peter Obi, former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, on Tuesday visited the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex in Ojo,where recent demolitions have left traders counting heavy losses.

Obi arrived with several politicians and was greeted by a large crowd of traders and youths.

The visit follows last week’s demolitions at the Trade Fair. At least 19 large buildings were pulled down with shops, goods, and businesses worth billions of naira destroyed.

Following the demolition, traders staged protests, insisting that their buildings had been duly approved by the Federal Government through the Trade Fair Management Board. Many took to the streets with placards, accusing the Lagos State government of discrimination and unfair treatment. Several rights groups also condemned the exercise, describing it as unlawful and detrimental to the livelihoods of countless families.
