JUST IN: Peter Obi visits victims of Suleja tanker explosion

Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, today, Wednesday, January 22, visited Niger State to commiserate with victims and families affected by the recent petrol tanker explosion along the Dikko-Maje Road in Suleja.

The incident claimed over 100 lives, injured more than 50 people, and destroyed numerous properties in the area.

During his visit, Obi toured the explosion site, the graveyard where 80 victims were buried, and the Sarkin Dikko palace. At the hospital, he met with injured victims to offer support and encouragement.

Expressing sorrow over the incident, Obi called for urgent safety measures, including road repairs, increased awareness for tanker operators, healthcare investments, and poverty alleviation programs.

“These recurring disasters highlight the urgent need for governance to prioritize human lives through proactive policies,” Obi said.

He extended condolences to Sarkin Dikko and the Dikko community, pledging solidarity with the affected families.

“Human lives are invaluable, and governance must prioritize their protection through proactive policies.

“Together, we can ensure such tragedies become a thing of the past. Together, we can build a safer future,” he concluded.
