Sixty people have been confirmed dead in a tanker explosion which took place on Saturday morning at Dikko Junction on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Gurara local government area of Niger State.
The tragic incident happened at around 10am.
Reports have it that people gathered to scoop the spilt product from the tanker when the explosion occurred.
Meanwhile, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kumar Tsukwam, confirmed the incident and the fatalities.
He disclosed that rescue operation is ongoing. According to him, all safety measures for road users have been put in place.
