The Kuje Medium Security Custodial Center in Abuja was assaulted with explosives by gunmen on Tuesday night, according to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), which confirmed the attack on Wednesday.
The attack was confirmed by the NCoS Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Mr. Abubakar Umar, who also said that security personnel were working to avert further damage.
According to inside sources, for over 2 hours and 45 minutes more than 300 terrorist took over the Kuje prison in Abuja with GPMGs, Bombs, RPGs, Many Rifles and other dangerous automatic weapons shouting Allahu Akbar.
Over 1,200 Prisoners and over 150 boko haram terrorist escaped successfully. The Total Population of Kuje Prison inmates was about 1,476, and only 111 of the inmates refused to escape and decided to remain in the prison.
Those that decided not to escape includes former Governor, Jolly Nyame of Taraba state, Farouk lawal, Abba Kyari and 4 of his officers, Retired AVM and also 107 other inmates who’s jail term is less than 3 months remaining and some who are innocent of the allegations on them, with few other good Senior Citizens.
With this, it is glaring that the level of criminality in Abuja and its environ is going to rise, and this is obviously a plan to compromise the security of The federal capital territory and Nigeria as a whole, you have to be safe out there.
This is unfortunate, We will soon get to a stage in this country where everybody has to carry gun for self defense.
See a wasted country lead by incompetent Mr President….
Nigeria need to be recolonises
Let this serve as eye opener for the authority concerned to see upgrade of our correctional facilities a task that must be accomplished. This centers can be as old as the mother Nigeria. It’s correctional facility and not punishment facility. Imagine one space just opened and it led to escape for many inmates. Upgrade can still fortify these places.
