The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu has reportedly been detained in a police cell shortly after being interrogated by a Presidential Panel in Aso-rock on Monday.
Magu was picked up by security operatives on Monday afternoon and whisked away to the Presidential Villa where he was quizzed for 6 hours over several allegations of fraud and misconduct.
His ordeal is coming barely 2 weeks after the Attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Malami recommended his sack.
According to news medium, Sahara Reporters, Magu is being detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters in Area 10, Federal Capital Territory. The panel investigating Magu is led by a former Court of Appeal judge, Ayo Salami.
It was also gathered that after interrogating the anti-graft commission boss, the panel recommended his immediate detention as it was not satisfied with his defence against the accusations. He will be brought back to the Villa on Tuesday morning around 10 am for a continuation of interrogations by the panel.
Part of the accusations against Magu include Living above his paygrade, diversion of recovered funds, hobnobbing with corrupt individuals, insubordination etc.
