JUST IN: Police drag suspended Ogun traditional ruler to court over viral assault video

The Ogun State Police Command has arraigned the suspended Olorile of Orile Ifo, Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, for allegedly assaulting a 73-year-old chief, Abraham Areola.

Ogunjobi was charged on three counts, including conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Confirming the development, Nigeria Police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that Ogunjobi appeared in court on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

“He was granted bail while the case was adjourned to March 6, 2025,” Adejobi said, assuring that justice would be served.

The incident, which gained public attention through a viral video, has sparked discussions about accountability among traditional rulers.
