Mamady Doumbouya, Guinea’s interim president, has underlined his commitment to a smooth handover to his different ministries.
He declared this during the first meeting of Ministers under the National Committee of Reconciliation and Development on Thursday, November 18.
At the meeting, newly chosen transitional prime minister Mohamed Beavogui said that the transition would be completed in a “limited time” in order to lay the groundwork for a better Guinea.
“We have just completed our first meeting of ministers. On this occasion, the President of the Republic, Colonel Mamady Doumbouya reminded us of the vision of the transition, he urged us to unity, to work, to the spirit of sacrifice, to self-sacrifice so that finally we give Guinea the place it deserves in the concert of nations,” said Beavogui.
The transitional prime minister explained that his current priority is to strengthen the government, build an efficient judiciary, and restructure the economy, and acknowledged that his administration is one of “transformation” rather than development.
“We must not just think of ourselves, but of the millions of Guineans who suffer. If we want to help our country, it requires an individual and collective sacrifice,” said Beavogui.
“Let Guinea be in the end a country of happiness for its children, a country where they find the solutions to their problems, a country of unity and that speak in one place in region or ethnicity.”
Doumbouya became Guinea’s interim president in October after spearheading the September 5 coup that ousted President Conde, 83.
