JUST IN: Police reacts to reports of fresh bandit attack in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has said no single shot was fired in Dantata bridge in Lugbe and Minister’s hills in Maitama, Abuja, on Tuesday.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the police asked people to disregard news of sporadic shootings by bandits.

According to a statement on Wednesday by Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the FCT Police Command, “the news is on every scale unfounded and should be disregarded”.

Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Babaji Sunday, called for calm, noting that an “investigation has commenced into the sources of this and many other maliciously crafted write-ups targeted at promoting panic and apprehension in the FCT”.

The statement added: “While the Police continue its quest on bringing crime and criminality to the barest minimum in the Territory, Residents are urged to remain vigilant, and report any suspicious or abnormal occurrence to the police.”
