Let go of your ambition – Bode George advises Atiku against 2027 presidency, gives reason

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy chairman Bode George has warned the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, urging him to forgo any ambitions of contesting in the 2027 elections.

In a statement directed at journalists in Abuja, George, a senior figure within the party, encouraged Atiku to embrace his role as a respected elder statesman within the party, guiding and mentoring the next generation of leaders due to his age.

He said, “My brother Atiku Abubakar was 77 years old last year and by 2027 he will be 81 years.

“Atiku should be in a situation where he plays like the big uncle in the room or the elder in the room.

“What would anybody carry me now to do because I’m heading to 80 years and I want to go and be minister, to do what?

“Let’s mentor the younger generation and let’s be consistent with our strong belief in our party norms.”

Recall that a former spokesperson for the ex-vice president, Daniel Bwala, had earlier in the year confirmed that his principal would contest the presidential election again in 2027.

Atiku attempted to become Nigeria’s President six times but was unsuccessful in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023.
