BREAKING: Executive Director, Bank of Agric, Olabode Abikoye, dies three days to birthday [PHOTO]

Olabode George Abikoye, the Executive Director of Nigerian national agricultural and rural development finance institution, Bank of Agriculture (BOA), is dead.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that Abikoye, also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AgGroup PLC, died on Tuesday.

Details of his death was still sketchy as at the time of this report but close friends confirmed his death.

His age cannot yet be ascertained, but this newspaper gathered that his birthday is on April 22.

Abikoye had a span of 27 years varied work experience in mortgage banking, commodity exportation, commercial and investment banking in reputable Nigerian financial institutions. At various times in the course of his career, he served as lead in the establishment of strategic business units across various financial institutions in pioneering roles in Agribusiness, PPP, Infrastructure, Private Equity and Asset Management.

The late top banker bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and a Master of Business Administration from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. He was also an alumnus of both the Infrastructure in a Market Economy and Senior Executive Fellows programs of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He led the Agribusiness team in Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, until March 2017 when he was appointed to the Board of Bank of Agriculture (BOA).

Until his death, ‘Bode held the post of Executive Director leading the Wholesale Banking Directorate in BOA with additional responsibility for overseeing the operations of the Bank in southern Nigeria.
