President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday sent his goodwill and prayers to the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the monarch was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina State on Tuesday.
The Emir is said to have contracted COVID-19 from Kastina State index case, Dr Aminu Yakubu, a Daura-based private medical practitioner, who died of the virus last month.
This newspaper learned that the late Yakubu was the personal doctor of the monarch and had met with him and his first wife, Hajiya Binta Umar, shortly before he died. Ms Umar died two weeks after.
President Buhari, who holds the traditional title of “Bayajidda” Daura, said ”he received the news of the Emir’s sudden illness with concern and expressed best wishes for the speedy recovery of the monarch.’
“I join the Daura Emirate and the entire people of Katsina State in praying for the recovery of our humble and dedicated Emir, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar,” the President said in a statement signed by the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
Mr Buhari, however, expressed satisfaction with the reported progress and recovery of the Emir since his admission.
