Three police officers have been shot dead by the so-called ‘Unknown Gunmen’ terrorising major parts of Nigeria’s southeast region.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the attack occurred on Wednesday night in New Haven area in Enugu State.
It was learned that the policemen were trailed by the assailants in two vehicles.
The vehicles ambushed the police van, and the gunmen opened fire on them.
A lady was reportedly part of the criminal gang.
This newspaper obtained a video of the attack, but it is too gory to share.
On Sunday, gunmen attacked members of the Labour Party (LP) who were holding a meeting in Awgu Community, Awgu Local Government Area (LGA) of Enugu State.
The gunmen, numbering about four, stormed the venue of the meeting and shot sporadically causing the party members to flee.
Although no life was lost in the attack, some party members sustained injuries.
The southeast geopolitical zone has witnessed increased criminal activities lately, especially in Anambra, Enugu and Imo states. Several people, including security agents and locals, have been killed by gunmen in recent attacks.
