President Bola Tinubu has condemned the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump.
Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, was attacked on July 13 while speaking at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
President Tinubu said, “The attack on former President Trump is unacceptable and goes against democratic values. Violence has no place in democracy.”
He expressed sympathy for Trump and condolences to the families of the deceased and wounded.
“Nigeria stands in solidarity with the United States of America at this time,” he added.
Two people were killed in the attack, including the suspected shooter and two others were injured. The FBI said it is investigating the incident as an attempted assassination.
The shooter, a 20-year-old local man, was found with a semi-automatic rifle.
