President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the recent boat mishaps in Mokwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State and Gurin village, in Fufore LGA of Adamawa State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the President said he is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives, including several children. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the affected families and communities.
President Tinubu also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the accidents.
He directed various government agencies, including law enforcement, maritime safety and transportation safety authorities, to collaborate closely in identifying the root causes of the accidents.
The President also instructed a comprehensive review of safety measures and strict enforcement of laws on boating activities in the country.
The first boat accident occurred on Sunday morning, September 10, 2023. This accident occurred in Mokwa LGA of Niger State when a boat carrying passengers capsized, killing about 28 persons. The second accident occurred in Gurin village, in Fufore LGA of Adamawa State, on Monday when a boat carrying passengers and livestock capsized. About 11 persons were confirmed dead.

President Bola Tinubu extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the recent boat mishaps in Mokwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State and Gurin village, in Fufore LGA of Adamawa State, which tragically claimed many lives, including several children.
