President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presentation of the N47.9 trillion 2025 budget to the joint session of the National Assembly has been rescheduled.
Initially slated for Tuesday, December 17, the address will now take place on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
According to Punch, the schedule change was confirmed by the top management staff of the National Assembly, who disclosed that an official statement would soon be issued.
The development comes after Senate President Godswill Akpabio, during Thursday’s plenary, had earlier announced the initial date and location for the budget presentation.
According to Akpabio, the event will be held at the House of Representatives Chamber, with plenary set to start at 10:30 a.m. to enable senators to meet in the Red Chamber before proceeding to the joint session for the budget unveiling.
This delay follows President Tinubu’s submission of the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (2025–2027) to the Senate and House of Representatives last month, which serves as the foundation for the proposed budget.
An official explanation for the shift in date is yet to be provided, though an announcement is anticipated within hours.
