The Special Adviser to the President Bola Tinubu on Media & Publicity and Official Presidential Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, on Friday, announced his decision to take an indefinite leave of absence from his official duties at the Presidential Villa.
Ngelale’s announcement was contained in a memo sent to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
In a short statement, Ngelale, said pressing medical issues affecting his immediate family is major reason for stepping down from his duties.
The statement read in part, “This agonising decision was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home.”
Ngelale also noted that he will in addition to his role as presidential spokesperson , temporarily step away from his duties as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.
He added, “While I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonising decision was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days.”
While describing his stepping down as an “indefinite leave”, Ngelale made his intention to return to his duties once the circumstances allow him to do so, clear.
