There is tension in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State as youths and women have taken to the streets in protest against the relentless attacks and killings perpetrated by suspected bandits, terrorists, or herders.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the protesters were dressed in black attire and armed with leaflets, expressing their deep dissatisfaction with the alarming situation in Mangu, resulting in the loss of hundreds of lives within the community.
Recall that last week, gunmen suspected to be terrorists raided the village, targeting residents, including women and children, who were defenceless in their sleep.
In reaction on Wednesday, Solomon Marren, the House of Representatives member representing Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency in Plateau State, revealed that approximately 200 people had fallen victim to terrorist attacks within his constituency in months.
In a statement issued by the lawmaker, he lamented the gruesome reality of the situation, stating, “I find it expedient at this time to intimate the world on the unfortunate happenings in my constituency, Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, Plateau State, in the last two days, where over 100 persons, most of them women and children, have been massacred and butchered in cold blood by terrorists during an overnight unprovoked attack. Their houses, including foodstuffs, food barns, and seedlings, were also burnt down.“
