The leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly, have initiated the process of probing the state’s Chief Judge, Simeon Amadi over an allegation of age falsification.
Trouble started for Amadi after members of the House of Assembly moved to ask the Department of State Services (DSS) to launch an investigation into the matter.
On the floor of the plenary on Thursday, the leader of the House, Major Jack presented some documents to the Speaker.
After the presentation made by Jack, the Deputy Speaker, Dumle Maol alleged that the Chief Judge of the state falsified his age while in service.
Maol said, “These document before me simply say that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi falsified his age in service. Mr Speaker, that is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice.”
Following the allegation tabled by Maol through the document, the House deliberated on the matter and resolved that a petition would be sent to the DSS.
Speaking on the drafting a petition to the DSS, the Speaker of the House, Martins Amaewhule said, “The documents are only suggesting a case of age falsification by the honourable Chief Judge of the state, Simeon Amadi.
“What it means is that there has to be an investigation to that effect,” Amaewhule stated.
The decision was put to vote with the lawmakers agreeing to write the DSS to probe the allegation of age falsification against the chief judge while in service.
